The platinum 950 mounting makes a decisive design choice in its two-tone execution — warm yellow gold double-claw prongs grip the hessonite at each of its four corners, their golden color deliberately selected to complement and enhance the orangy red of the center stone, while the surrounding diamond shoulders and shank are executed in cool platinum that makes the round brilliant diamonds appear icier and whiter by contrast. The shoulder clusters feature larger round brilliant diamonds arranged in a fan formation on each side of the center stone, graduating to smaller pave diamonds along the shank — a design that creates maximum diamond presence immediately adjacent to the center stone while tapering to a refined, comfortable band at the back. Hessonite garnet, often called the "cinnamon stone", is a honey-yellow to brownish-red variety of grossular garnet. Hessonite is found primarily in Sri Lanka and parts of Africa and India, and stones of this size with the characteristic orangy-red color, transparency, and face-up visual impact of this specimen are genuinely scarce at any price point. The GIA report confirms the species as grossular garnet, variety hessonite, with orangy red color and transparent clarity — the combination of color and transparency that represents the premium tier of hessonite quality, as many hessonite stones of this size display the characteristic "treacly" or heat-shimmer internal effect that reduces transparency and appeal. The cushion brilliant crown with step-cut pavilion delivers both the color saturation of the step cut and the surface brilliance of the brilliant crown, producing a stone that glows with deep red-orange fire from across a room while maintaining the broad color field characteristic of hessonite's best specimens.
